The Chief Medical Officer (CMO) is responsible for overseeing all medical operations onboard the cruise ship. This role ensures the health, safety, and well-being of passengers and crew by providing medical care, managing the onboard clinic, and supervising the medical team. The CMO also develops health protocols, manages emergencies, and ensures compliance with international maritime health standards. Key Responsibilities Provide medical care and treatment to passengers and crew, including emergencies and routine care Lead and manage the onboard medical team (nurses, assistants, therapists) Develop, implement, and maintain medical protocols and procedures Maintain medical records, documentation, and reporting in compliance with legal and company standards Coordinate emergency medical evacuations with shore-based facilities if required Ensure proper stocking and management of medical supplies and medications Conduct health screenings, vaccinations, and preventive care programs Advise the ship’s senior management on health, safety, and wellness matters Monitor and enforce hygiene, infection control, and occupational health standards onboard Participate in safety drills, onboard inspections, and staff training sessions
